On s&#8217;arr\u00eate \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re pour faire tamponner nos passeports et payer les frais de visa. Une formalit\u00e9. Sauf que <strong>notre chauffeur demande 35$ pour le visa cambodgien, qui co\u00fbte en fait 30$<\/strong>. 5$ de plus, pas grand chose pour un occidental me direz vous, mais sachant qu&#8217;on \u00e9tait 20 dans le van, et qu&#8217;ils font \u00e7a plusieurs fois par jour, \u00e7a finit par faire beaucoup! Par principe, j&#8217;ai au d\u00e9but refus\u00e9 de payer 35$ mais il n&#8217;y avait rien \u00e0 faire, le chauffeur \u00e9tait pr\u00eat \u00e0 reprendre la route et m&#8217;abandonner \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re. Plusieurs femmes locales se jettent sur moi pour me proposer de changer mes sous. <strong>On connait cette <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beenaroundtheglobe.com\/fr\/arnaques-voyage-courantes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">arnaque courante<\/a>, o\u00f9 des locaux \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re se prennent une grosse commission sur le taux de change.<\/strong> J&#8217;ai poliment d\u00e9clin\u00e9 mais juste par curiosit\u00e9, j&#8217;ai demand\u00e9 combien elles donnaient de riel (la monnaie du pays), pour un dollar US. Et \u00e9tonnamment, le taux \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s bon! Effectivement, le taux \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s bon. Mais ce que je ne savais pas, c&#8217;est qu&#8217;<strong>au Cambodge, tout se paye en dollars US.<\/strong> Ils ont bien leur monnaie, mais ils ne s&#8217;en servent quasiment pas! En prenant des riels \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re, j&#8217;aurais eu un mal fou \u00e0 m&#8217;en d\u00e9barrasser par la suite (tiens \u00e7a me rappelle les manats au <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beenaroundtheglobe.com\/fr\/infos-pratiques-turkmenistan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Turkm\u00e9nistan<\/a>&#8230;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On peut payer en riels mais \u00e7a n&#8217;arrange aucun commer\u00e7ant et ils font payer plus car du coup ils prennent une commission. En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, <strong>les riels servent \u00e0 compl\u00e9ter un paiement en dollars US<\/strong>, vu qu&#8217;il n&#8217;y a que des billets et aucune pi\u00e8ce en dollars qui circule. Exemple : je paye un resto \u00e0 4.50$, je donne 4$ plus l&#8217;\u00e9quivalent de 50 cents en riels. Phnom Penh \u00e9tait surnomm\u00e9e la perle de l&#8217;Asie des ann\u00e9es 1920 jusqu&#8217;aux ann\u00e9es 1970, car elle \u00e9tait consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme l&#8217;une des plus belles villes d&#8217;Indochine. Comme je le disais,&nbsp;<strong>tous les prix sont affich\u00e9s en dollars US. Vous l&#8217;avez compris, du coup le Cambodge est plus cher que ses voisins <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beenaroundtheglobe.com\/fr\/visiter-vientiane-laos\/\" target=\"_blank\">le Laos<\/a> ou <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beenaroundtheglobe.com\/fr\/visiter-hanoi-vietnam\/\" target=\"_blank\">le Vietnam<\/a>.<\/strong> Bien que Phnom Penh soit la capitale, il y a moins de trafic qu&#8217;\u00e0 Ho Chi Minh. Phnom Penh a l&#8217;air moins agit\u00e9, je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re. Pas autant qu&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.beenaroundtheglobe.com\/fr\/voyager-en-birmanie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">en Birmanie<\/a>, mais on en voit. A c\u00f4t\u00e9 du monument de l&#8217;ind\u00e9pendance, il y a un parc, et en fin de journ\u00e9e, beaucoup de locaux font leur exercice, \u00e0 savoir de la marche. Plusieurs dizaines de cambodgiens de tout \u00e2ge qui font des tours du parc en marchant en tenue de jogging. Assez dr\u00f4le \u00e0 voir. Beaucoup de plats typiquement asiatiques, mais on ressent aussi l&#8217;influence de la France. Le Cambodge faisait aussi partie de l&#8217;Indochine, cette ancienne colonie fran\u00e7aise. J&#8217;y suis all\u00e9 et faut pas se mentir, le palais est vraiment beau. Et pourtant, j&#8217;ai trouv\u00e9 que \u00e7a ne valait pas les 10 dollars pour pouvoir y aller. Pour commencer, l&#8217;endroit est plein \u00e0 craquer! Une fois dans l&#8217;enceinte, il y a en fait le palais royal et un ensemble de temples. Impossible, <\/strong>un grand mur emp\u00eache de le faire. Attention, le palais royal est ouvert au public de 8h \u00e0 10h30, puis de 14h \u00e0 17h uniquement. Pour ceux qui ne le savent pas, le Cambodge \u00e9tait isol\u00e9 du monde de 1975 \u00e0 d\u00e9but 1979. Pol Pot, chef des Khmers Rouges, a fait tuer 3 millions de cambodgiens (sur 8!) pendant cette p\u00e9riode. Le mus\u00e9e du g\u00e9nocide Tol Sueng \u00e9tait en fait la prison (appel\u00e9e prison S21) o\u00f9 les cambodgiens attendaient d&#8217;\u00eatre execut\u00e9s. Choeung Ek, un peu plus loin, \u00e9tait le lieu d\u2019ex\u00e9cution des victimes. Tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant mais un peu choquant.
